Thanks for listening to our Podcast.
Tell us a little bit about the uh world-class play manual in development and when we might expect that and what sort of arrangement there will be for NBJ users. Yeah, that's a good question, though. Tell us about that. Okay, we let me give us back to the audience.
SPEAKER_02Okay, well world-class play, uh I guess it was uh Friday that we talked about world-class play, so some of these people haven't heard anything about it at all. Recognize that past NBJ, there there is an entire higher level of blackjack that primarily deals with reacting to the specific game that you're playing in. In other words, when do you vary from NBJ? When do you vary from the variable strategy chart? When do you, for instance, go to dealer strategy? And how do you know when to slide between dealer strategy and variable strategy and safe strategy? Uh it deals with the specific game that you're playing. This is what what Mark likes to call it structured, but world-class play deals with the abstract game, uh, picturing things, seeing things. Uh it deals with high-speed play, and it deals with educating your intuition uh to the point that you don't have to be distracted by all these structural things that are that are in NBJ. We're trying to make you a well-oiled, poised, efficient player, top, you know, top players in the world. That's what we're looking for. Now, what I'm doing at the present time is I'm taking the I'm putting the notes down for this manual. Now, as most of you know, I teach college uh during the winter. And uh I'm going to write this manual uh this summer. Now I don't I don't uh plan on staying in the basement writing this manual eight, ten hours a day like I did with with your manual because I began to grow mushrooms and various parts of my anatomy last summer. I've gotta get out and get a little exercise and you know into the sunlight. I mean, I have no reflection in the mirror after a while. Uh I've got to get out, play some golf and stuff like that. You know, so I'm not going to try to write this thing to a deadline. Uh I'm just gonna have to, it'll come out at whatever pace it comes out. But during the summer, I don't have a lot else to do. I don't teach, I could teach during the summer, but I don't uh in in order to write this manual. So that's what I'll be doing this summer. I would wish once I get started that you don't rush me on it, because if I I can do a much better job, really, if I'm if I'm not rushed too much. But it should be done like uh in the some sometime in the fall. Okay, any other questions on uh on world-class play?
SPEAKER_05I'll probably lead into the last topic of this morning's uh list uh yes uh Eric's uh question on the professional play. Uh did you want to elaborate on that, Eric? Uh the you were looking about the attitudes to develop and training programs.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, attitude training programs and time management improvements, uh how you how you uh working with your bank roads, things like that.
SPEAKER_03Okay, uh just before I get into your your answer, Eric, because this is sort of first part of the answer right here, uh as as most of you know I've I ran large uh uh corporations all my life and retired from that.
SPEAKER_02I did that for 30 years and that was enough of that. Uh what I know about profit motivation, and I think that the people, some of us went out and ate lunch at noon, and some of us went out and made made money at noon, and I kind of admire that kind of uh profit motivation, and we heard from one, but uh Bob, could you tell us what happened to you at noon?
SPEAKER_04I spent uh 30 minutes in Caesar's Palace.
SPEAKER_02Wait a second, Bob.
SPEAKER_01I spent 30 minutes at Caesar's uh palace and uh made 41 units.
SPEAKER_0241 units and 30 minutes, so you know, it's a little over a unit, a minute. Not bad. Okay, very, very good. Uh okay, now to get on to Eric's question, and it's something that we we usually talk about really at the beginning of the seminars, and quite quite frankly, I I forgot to do it. Uh I I look at all of this under the heading of time management. Time management, and I found, or or at least I feel, that uh we talk about money management a lot. We talked a little bit about it this morning, but I think that in NBJ your money management is is pretty much automated by the movable stop loss. Once you're doing the movable stop loss, now about all you need to know is how much money to bring with you, and we talked about that. It automates money management. So money management is not a big thing now with NBJ because of the fact that it's automated, but time management is extremely important, and being a successful blackjack player, I think it's more important even now than than money management. Once you have learned uh how to play and and you've you've uh mastered the manual, uh, and I'll tell you if you read it on the way down in the in the airplane, you didn't master the manual. You have a few more readings to go and a lot of home practice to go. Uh and one of the problems that we have, by the way, with these seminars, recognize that we are talking to different levels of player, uh, vastly different levels of player, from the people who are just learning the game of blackjack all the way up to the people with 20 years professional blackjack experience and everywhere in the middle. So it's hard to direct the seminar to all of you at the same time. But in time management, now we're really thinking in terms of the professional. We're thinking of blackjack more as a as a business than as a recreation or a hobby. And there's things that we need to do in time management to make us a better player. I I touched on it briefly a while ago when I said that I have found out for myself that after the third day of blackjack in a casino town, I'm going downhill at that point during the fourth day. Now, for you it may be different, it may be the second day, it may be the fifth day. You know, different people have different thresholds. But one of the things you need to do is to learn your own abilities and to learn when you are at your peak. Time management is about coinciding the time that you actually play the game to when you are in peak condition to play the game. None of us are in peak condition 24 hours a day, or even 12 hours a day, or even eight hours a day. Your peak window during the day, usually for most people, only lasts for maybe two hours, and for some are lucky, luckier than others, maybe three hours. And and that's about it, and that's when you would like to be playing. Now, fortunately, in this town uh and now in Atlantic City, you can play at all hours of the day or night. But I find that playing when you are in peak condition is actually more important than playing the casino when it's in peak condition. If you are in peak condition, you can win a heck of a lot of games that you would have lost if you played them when you weren't at peak condition. One of the problems that we have for me and for you when we do seminars in a casino town, is I can assure you that after you have attended one of my eight-hour marathon boring seminars all day long, you are not in peak condition now to go out and play blackjack. You would like to be, you know, and you're maybe charged up, but your body says, wait a minute, look what you just put me through. And now you want me to go out and and and dazzle around the town and play flawless blackjack. And it's not going to happen. One of the worst problems about not being in peak mental condition to play the game is that you don't always know it. Because when you're not in peak mental condition, you're dumb enough not to know that you're not it's like it's like the drunk that that goes out and makes a fool of himself. It all seems normal to him at the time. He doesn't really know that he's drunk and he's making a fool of himself, okay? Like last night. See, I wouldn't have done that if I was sober. Uh this is all uh involved in uh in time management. Some of us are morning people. I happen to be a morning person. I'm a lot sharper in the morning than I am in the evening. Some of you that call me in the evening have already found that to be true. You may call me at nine o'clock at night and get perfect gibberish out of me. Whereas if you call me at nine o'clock in the morning, you'll you'll get a straight uh answer to your questions. I'm like that. Other people are just the opposite. Other people are night people. There's diet to contend with, eating the right foods to keep yourself mentally sharp. There's drugs to think about. Now, I don't mean although it does tend to make the game a lot funnier. No, I'm I'm talking about drugs that keep you alert, vitamins, things of those natures, food supplements that are designed to uh to keep you alert. I have found that that one of the one of the things that I do before I play is ginseng. I found that it in my particular case, and I asked a couple of doctors about this to find out if there's any harm in this, and they agree that no. Uh but there isn't. But ginseng, uh it's I think it's better than speed. Ginseng will keep you alert, it'll keep you peppy for long for long it's an aphrodisiac. You see what it is? Because I thought I was getting younger. I've taken it and and uh tea, you know, but the pills are I mean you can carry them in your pocket. And what you want to if you if you want to get into that, what you do is you take them. Unlike vitamins, you take them like a half an hour, when your stomach is empty, you take them like a half an hour before you eat, and they they uh have a uh a quite a lasting effect. They can carry you through the whole through a whole night at blackjack for several hours, and you will be sharper. There is just no question about it. You will have more pep and vigor, and you and you will be sharper, and I think particularly if you're also uh have a good healthy uh diet and maybe take some food supplements. For instance, we don't want to go out and have, you know, a huge steak dinner or turkey dinner, e even more so, and then go out and play jack, blackjack, because large meals uh make you sleepy and they use up your brain blood or oxygen. Waskell explained a whole lot better than me for digestion rather than for playing the game. So you've got to watch these things. And you know, when we when we go on these trips, we tend to break up our daily regimen. We get off of our daily schedule, like for like for me, there's a three-hour uh time difference between what I'm used to in New York and the time here, and you get off of your daily regimen, and and this tends to to weaken you both physically and and mentally to some degree. On the other hand, the casinos and the casino towns are designed, literally designed, to increase your adrenaline, and you're living on this excitement and this adrenaline, and maybe uh you're a whole lot more tired than you than you actually feel when you're out there. What you have to do is you've got to know your body. You've got to and you get used to these things after a while, and and and unfortunately you learn a lot of these things. I was just kidding. You learn a lot of these things the hard way, okay? If you learn from making mistakes. Um but like for instance, I said this morning that that last night, had I had the same cards and the same hands this morning that I did last night, I would have won a whole lot more money on them this morning than I did last night, because you you are going to make mistakes when when you're not in condition, when you're not in your your peak top physical condition. And I'm not I'm not just talking about condition enough conditioning to get you there, to get you through the game. I'm talking about being on top of the game, not missing a trick, catching everything. Like if the dealer changes the shuffle style and you didn't catch it, you're not up to your peak performance. You know, she just played a little trick on you and it went right by you. Remember that casinos are professional people. When you're playing there at uh three o'clock in the morning, okay, the guy that you're playing against hasn't been up since eight o'clock that morning. That's his normal work shift. He's sharp. The casino's sharp, the pit boss is sharp. Their job is only it's it's very simple. It's only one thing. Their job is to beat you. And your job is not to let them beat you, your job is to beat them. They're gonna throw every trick they know at you to beat you, particularly once they figured out that you're a good player, and it doesn't take very long for them to you can't hide this fact forever, you know. When you're a good player, you're a good player, and sooner or later they're gonna realize that, and they're going to take precautions against you, and you have to be up. You have to be one step ahead of them all the time. And if if if you're not, you you don't really have any business playing then. You shouldn't be playing then. So, what I like to see people do is curtail their play to when they are in their peak condition, whatever, whatever that is for that person. I would rather see you raise your stakes a little bit and reduce your time, think in terms of quality time, quality play, raise your stakes a little bit during that time than to than to try out uh to go to these marathon things and play for 10 days in a row and and all of that, all of that sort of thing. I'm I'm only telling you now what you're going to find out on your own eventually, anyway, for those of you that intend to play a lot and maybe take this up as a money-making thing or as a semi-professional or even as a professional thing. These are this is what you gotta learn. You've you've got to say, I'm a professional, and you have to start thinking like a professional, thinking in terms of a professional, just like a doctor or a lawyer or any other professional would think about his particular trade. That's important, you know. Uh, I even think about the clothes that I wear when I'm going out. I want to be comfortable. I want pockets. You need lots of pockets when you play blackjack. Especially, you you know, we had the little trick. If we want more players in the game, we leave chips on the table. And if we don't want more players in the game, we take chips off of the table. You gotta have pockets, you gotta have safe pockets, you've got to be comfortable. I like to have layers of clothing, so if I get warm, I can take something off. You know, you're sitting there kind of motionless. Sometimes you get under an air conditioner vent or whatever, you start getting a little chilly, so you can put something back on. You don't want to have to be concerned with those things while you're playing. You don't want anything else on your mind but but play. I've had situations, your concentration has to be total. Now, to give you an idea, I've had situations where people that I have known have come down and started playing uh in the seat next to me, right next to me. And I didn't realize it until the shuffle that there's somebody right next to me that I know very well. But my concentration on the cards is that total. That's one of the things that is very difficult to achieve in home practice. You can achieve it to a certain extent, but you can't achieve it to a major extent. Well, you see, one of the things that's nice about home practice is you always play it at your pace. Now, if you want to stop for a minute to do to do whatever, talk to somebody, blow your nose, light a cigarette, or whatever, you do that at your own pace. You stop the game while you do that. You know, I often wonder how many hands I lost from lighting cigarettes. Honest to God, how many hands have I lost from just a brief moment of taking a small distraction, taking my eyes off of the couch? How many hands have I lost from from just lighting cigarettes or putting out cigarettes? You know, boom, but boom, you're putting it out, you're taking your and you miss something in the game. So I think that for me, smoking is probably a whole lot more expensive than just the cost of the cigarettes because I realize that just that little tiny distraction can cause you to miss something important in the game. Uh you you you might say, well, geez, what could go by that fast? Well, let me tell you what could go by that fast. The first base player takes a hit card, that's your second key card. It busts him, and the dealer immediately picks it up, and you didn't see it. You can't very well say, hey, dealer, put that card back. I didn't see it. You know, you missed it. No, you've missed one of the key cards. Okay? That can happen very easy. There's there's a dozen things that can happen and that you can miss just with a with a blink of the eye. I talk to NBJ players when they when they play together about not distracting each other in the game. Uh one of the problems when you're when you're that you you may incur when you're playing over somebody else's shoulder, he's doing all the thinking in the game, right? He's making all the plays. You're just handing your bet to him. Well, you don't want to start you don't have anything to do, but he does. He's got a lot to do, you know, so you don't want to be talking to him and distracting him. You know, you want to let that person uh concentrate on their play. You'll learn that you only have such a an uh uh an attention span. We we all do, uh, you know, we have an attention span that's always only so long. Some some longer than others. Some of the people that I've met, I I won't say who it was, but I even gave private lessons. It's not you, Paul. I even gave private lessons to uh some people up at up at my house where I knew when I was giving him the lessons that this person, the husband, the wife was alright, but the husband would never be able to play blackjack. Because his attention span would not even last for for a full round. This person just could not he would never be a a good player. Now there are very few people like that. But what I'm saying is we have to we have to kind we have to know our own limitations, we have to know our attention spans, we have to know how long we can sit in the game. That's that's a good rule. It's also a rule uh that can work against you.
SPEAKER_05If you're a morning person, what do you do?
SPEAKER_02Say that again.
SPEAKER_05If you're a morning person, what do you do?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah. Uh and that's what I like to do. I am a morning person, so I like to go out in the morning. So I'm in favor of that rule that uh the the uh the all night rule. I have watched uh uh very, very good players uh winning players uh w do what we call give back, you know, which is what we're trying to uh curtail with my movable stop loss to the tune of $25,000. I watched them win $25,000 and sit right there and give it all back to the casino. Not because they're a poor player, but because they they played too long. They just simply were not thinking straight. Your judgment goes. Let's talk about alcohol. Now, if I'm gonna go out and play some nickel blackjack like like last night for recreational purposes, you know, because I because I'm here, alcohol is one thing. When you're going to go out and play cards at whatever is your professional level of playing cards, whether whether it be ten dollars or twenty-five dollars or a hundred dollars, when you're out there to to make money, you you don't want alcohol is not your friend. Alcohol is not your friend. Some people think, yeah, well, geez, it makes me so you know, I'm so nervous. It it makes me relax. You don't want to be relaxed. You're you're better off nervous than than with alcohol. Uh when I go to play uh professionally, like we're we're gonna do some professional play this this month in Atlantic City. Uh personally, I I don't have anything alcohol with alcohol on it for four or five days before I go on the trip. I also go right through a routine just like a boxer would, maybe not to that extent, but I have a stretch uh over by my house where I'll go out and I'll jog and I'll get myself into the into good physical and mental condition, prepare myself for that trip. Prepare myself so that I can be at peak mental condition on every single card and every single hand for a matter of hours. Okay? That's good time management. Here's another thing in time management. When you're playing, you cannot have any other commitments or time constraints. You can't be playing against a bus schedule, a plane schedule, a car schedule, a meet somebody for dinner schedule. It's just like the driver that had to pick us up last night said, Well, I was doing great in the game, but then I had to. Look, when you're doing great in the game, you're doing great in the game. That's the important thing. If somebody misses a ride because of it, well, they can find another ride. You don't make any commitments when you're playing. You cannot have that to be thinking about. You can't be looking at your watch while you're playing cards. You don't care what time it is while you're playing cards. You only care about one thing playing cards. You don't you're not worried about who you're gonna meet for dinner or what time, where your wife is, where your kids are, what's gonna be on at the at the show tonight. You don't worry about any of those things. Just you're professional. You're there to play cards. You you you gotta think like a boxer in the ring. You need to to have the your uh the game needs your undivided and your full attention. The game is difficult enough without any kinds of distractions. So those are sort of kind of the things that you need to think about to be a professional or to think like a professional. And I mean I understand that you're not all gonna go out and be professionals, but when you do play, you might as well play like a professional and get the most out of get the most out of the game. Is there a clean glass anywhere? Could you hand me that glass right there? Uh when I go out to play cards at the casino towns for for the three days that I go out there to play, I actually get more sleep during those three days than I do when I'm home. I want more sleep because what you're doing requires more energy than probably anything else you'll do. Mental energy, but energy nevertheless. More energy than anything else that you will probably ever, ever, unless you're an air traffic controller or something like that. It's uh and maybe even then, maybe even then. It's re it takes up a lot of energy. You need more sleep, you need to give your body a chance to uh to replenish itself. You know, a lot of people that entertain the idea of being a professional player are entertaining the idea because of the lifestyle, the glamour and the excitement of it. Uh it's really a a false idea to think of it that way. That's the last thing you want to be interested in to play good cards. When you want to play good cards, you're only interested in three things playing cards, eating, and sleeping. That's it. That's what you're there for. Do you do your entertainment some other time? If you want to go on a you know a trip to Vegas for entertainment, then do it for entertainment. Go to the shows and so on. Play a little low-stakes blackjack, play a little nickel blackjack or whatever. But that's not that's not playing cards. When you're playing cards for money, that's all, that's all you want to be doing. Nothing else going on. You're not there for any any other reason whatsoever. That's now you're starting to think like a professional. I even uh look at things like how am I going to get there and how much is that going to take away from me. For instance, uh, it's a five-hour drive from my house to Atlantic City. That drive is one thing, and it's down the uh the Garden State Parkway, which is happens to be the most heavily traveled uh road in the entire in the entire world. And that road will take something out of you, no matter how how hard you try, no matter what kind of car you have, it's gonna take something out of you. And if it's in the winter, I live up in the mountains, so the first part of the trip will be in snow in the winter. I just don't even plan on playing the first day. That's it. When I get there, I'm in no condition to play. But on the road for the last five five hours, or in the winter it may be six hours, or if I hit the New York City rush hour, it's gonna be seven hours, you know. You're in no condition to play when when you get there, so what I do is I'll go and I'll have a nice dinner and and go to bed and get a good night's sleep and then worry about playing uh the next day. Uh let's talk about cash just for a minute. Cash can be a distraction, particularly, you know, Atlantic City is not the safest uh place in the world. And whenever whenever you're dealing with blackjack, you're also dealing with with large amounts of cash. I don't particularly like to put cash into the the banks at the casinos and and then draw markers on it because what you're what you're giving up when you do that is you you can't do that without telling them who you are. And I don't necessarily want them to know who I don't want them to know my business. I would just rather that uh that they didn't. So I'm gonna be, I'm in the situation where I carry large amounts of cash on me. I don't want to be concerned about that cash. I do little things just so I don't, I'm not distracted by this. I have a specific way that I arrange my money in my wallet so that I don't accidentally give somebody the wrong size bill. And it usually works, although one trip, uh one seminar, one play after the seminar, I accidentally tipped the cocktail waitress a hundred dollars. And it made her day, I'm I'm sure, but sure as hell didn't make my day. But I had I had inadvertently put a hundred the hundreds where I normally keep my ones, I just did it. But little things like that, you need to an Atlantic City or even here, you need you need your money in a in a can't take a joke, secure place, you know, a button-down uh uh pocket or or or what have you. Um so you don't need to worry about it. I I remember when Suzanne dropped her pocketbook on the boardwalk. You know, now this is here's a here's here's a sign of a true professional, right? Drop all your money on the boardwalk. You know, but those things happen. You you need to to to think about those things. How are you gonna get from one place to another uh and things like that? Um I kid Wes all the time. We were doing a a casino search uh in the in the trio of Baileys and the Sands and the Clearage. And you know, I I talk about you've got to be foot loose and fancy-free. You've got to be able to get up and go, you know, you don't you don't want strings attached, and of course Wes goes up to the fourth floor and checks his coat in and the sands. Now, turns out there's no good games in the sand. Okay, Wes, we're leaving now. Wait a minute. I gotta go up to the fourth floor and get my coat. Well, goodbye, Wes. We'll see. We'll see you at the next casino, you know. You can't do those kinds of things, you know. You're you're a professional, you need to be to able to move through a casino and and check it out and get out of there and make good use of of your time and your energy that you have available to you because you've only got so many good plan hours uh in the day. Those are you know some of the things about thinking like a professional and acting like a professional, and doing the those things can spell the difference between a winner and a loser at the end of the day very, very easily. Somebody asked me uh during one of the breaks what I thought was a very good, uh very intelligent question. He asked me, when you have a big win, do you do you continue playing that day? And I usually don't. I usually don't. I've said in the manual the little checks that I have to make sure, you know, I'll go in at every thousand dollars, I'll go in the gen and just check myself out, throw cold water in my face, ask myself what date is it, or some something like that, what casino am I in, what's my hotel room number, and things like that, just to check my own mental condition. Uh sometimes if I'm going up to my room, I'll pull out a deck of cards and count down the deck of cards just to see if I can do it in 13 seconds. Now, if I take 20 seconds to count down a deck of cards, I'm not I'm not in peak condition anymore. I'm slowing down for that day. I might want to think about taking a nap. The best use of my time right now might be to take a nap rather than go down and and and play play blackjack when I when when you're not in condition to play. That's that's how uh how seriously I look at the whole thing. Now you might say, well, that you know that takes all the the fun out of it, but it doesn't really. I gotta tell you, there's nothing more fun than winning. When you get in those big games, and when you got $3,000 of chips out in front of you, you're gonna have a good time. In spite of yourself, no matter how hard you're trying, you'll find that that's very entertaining, you know. When you're able to double the bat for the second time in that game, that's very entertaining. You know, when you can't see the first base player's card because your chips are in your way, that's entertaining. You're gonna get your fun out of it, you know. Uh but that's that's the way that's the way I I eat a lot of fish uh when I play, when I play cards. I'll I'll eat fish for dinner virtually uh every night. Uh I eat a lot of fruit. Fruit gives you energy. Uh and it keeps you regular too, you know. Which which can happen when you're traveling. Uh I uh I don't drink too much coffee. Uh it's true that the coffee, you know, it'll it'll it'll keep you awake, but but to me, it ruins your judgment. It um what's the word? You're it makes you impatient. It makes you impatient. It's one of the worst attitudes you can have in a game is to be impatient. You've got to be going at the same speed the game's going at. If it's a slow game, you've got to be going at a slow speed with it. If it's a fast game, it's a fast you go at a fast speed. But if you try to if you try to outthink the game to go faster than the game, if you're impatient in the game, you're not going to do well in that game. You're gonna miss things in that game. Questions?
SPEAKER_04The only question I would have is if you were to have a big win. Oh, uh microphone, please, uh George.
SPEAKER_02All right, George, you're fired. Get somebody else.
SPEAKER_01Please, could you go down for your afternoon nap there?
SPEAKER_04Hello. Not that I have this problem at this time, but I know that uh coming into town with two or three thousand dollars in your pocket and going out with ten or fifteen, which could happen, how do you handle that? Do you go to the cashier and get a cashier's check then, or do you carry that money, particularly in the airplanes and airports that we've got to go through? I carry it with me.
SPEAKER_02I carry it with me. Now they're uh uh you can wire money from the casino towns, you can wire money home. One of one of our players does that frequently, he'll wire the the money home. I I have a I keep a real large wallet, and you can if you you can fit fifteen thousand dollars in here in this in this type of a uh in this type of a wallet. What I what I do when I'm putting a lot of money in there is I'll take my money and I'll fold it this way a thousand dollars, and I'll fold a thousand dollars and I'll just curl it the other way, and I stick it up into these compartments so you can't even get it out. You know, you almost have to go to your room to get your money out. Uh it's kind of embarrassing to have to be tugging it out at the table, you know. I have money that I the money that I'm going to play with will be in this part of my wallet where it's easy to get at, and so that I can reach in and pull out three hundred dollars without looking, so I don't I don't make any mistakes. Um and I usually buy an in for for for $300. Sometimes you're screwed up because you go to the bank and they don't have enough hundreds and they give you fifties and it screws up your whole wallet, and you can't explain it to the banker. What do you mean I'm screwing up your wallet? Uh but that's that's the way I do it. And then I'll usually put like enough for two buy-ins in the regular part of my wallet, and the rest is tucked away. And to get at that, I virtually got to go back back to my room and rearrange my my wallet. That's good because it makes you have to re-assess what you're doing. Yeah, that he's what he said is it's a good idea because if you went through $600, you ought to reassess what you're doing anyway, and it virtually forces you to do that. You it makes you take that uh break. It's a little reminder that, hey, what's going on here? You just lost six hundred dollars, this is not a good start, let's look the situation over again. It's the same reason that you take uh the John breaks and you and you go and reassess, reevaluate the situation. I'm three thousand dollars ahead now. Do I really want to quit or do I want to stay in this game? What was my win rate for the last hour? Did I win the last thousand dollars over a period of one hour, or did it take me two hours? And if it took you two hours, you might want to think about getting out because two hours is a struggle. Those are the kinds of questions that uh that you ask yourself. Uh there's little I I use the the marker, when I talk about the marker, the little clear marker that you can get. The casino must save your place for you if you want to leave. It's it's rules because you know everybody has to leave the game every now and then, so they have to make that a rule. And I use it all the time, as I mentioned in the in the manual. I'll ask for a marker, and I do it at I do it with the piles. I always do it after a thousand dollars, after I've won a thousand dollars, and I always do it at the three thousand dollar level. I very seldom stay in a game after three thousand dollars playing for quarter chips. I very seldom stay in the game after that. I'll I usually get out. The only thing I'll stay in the game is if I've done it in a very short length of time, like if I've done three thousand dollars maybe in an hour or an hour and a half. It's a really, really good game, so I'll so I'll stay in. The longest I ever stayed in a single game playing for quarters was seven was seven thousand dollars. It's I mean, I know there's a lot of players that brag about their, you know, fifteen to twenty thousand dollars in one game. The most I've ever done is seven thousand, simply because with with my management system that I have for myself, I don't leave myself in the game any longer than that. Usually at $3,000, I'll get out at $3,000. So once in a blue moon, I'll go past that five, six minutes. Okay, we got time for a question or two, five or six minutes. George?
SPEAKER_01The question man's got a question. Uh I need to walk around with too much cash on me, and many, many times I've walked from, for example, Sparks in the Reno. That's quite a little walk, but I've done it with uh four or five, six thousand dollars on me. And I don't like that.
SPEAKER_02You know, the I've got told George clubs about George Mouth. You could actually afford to take a club. You could actually afford to take a club with that much money.
SPEAKER_01That's true, but I like to walk. I do a lot of walking. Um, so I've devised different places to carry the so-called excess money. You're not gonna lay five thousand dollars out on the table to play with. So uh I have what was his name, Chippani, Jerry? Um Chipani was with uh Houston for a while, and he had a trick pair of socks that he wore. They were not, they were up around your knee, but he had a uh kind of a rubber band thing around. He could put money in this little pocket that he put in the sock. Uh I have tried that. I've also um employed money belts to carry it. I do a lot of traveling in foreign countries, and I hate to carry all my money in a wallet. In fact, I don't carry hardly any money in a wallet, I carry it folded over in my pocket, and I'm afraid of losing the wallet.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. Okay. How you do it isn't important. It's how you feel about how you're doing it. You want your money where you don't have to think about it, you don't have to be thinking about it every second. You don't want to have to be uh stopping and checking your pocket every now and then just to make sure you get you're gonna miss a lot in the game. If if you you need money security, however you do it is okay, as long as you don't have to worry about it so that you can forget about it when you're in the game. When you're in the game, you don't want anything to think about, anything else to think about. You've got enough already to think about uh in the game.
SPEAKER_05This is the end of NBJ tape four. Side one will continue this discussion on the flip side.
