Thanks for listening to our Podcast.
We get calls uh from people that play 'em all the time and I'll tell you, it's a lot better than it used to be. You know the the problem with cruise ships is that there's there's no control over these games. The the cruise lines franchises them out to companies like out of Florida and so places like that. So if if if you go to like the crew the cruise line complain about the game there, they'll just tell you, well, you have to go to the company in Florida where we franchise, we don't have any control over it, you know. So whenever I see situations like that, I'm a little I'm a little skeptical. But we have uh Sam down in Florida that plays the cruise ships all the time. We have some people that play the Mississippi River boats all the time, and they actually do quite well. To tell you the truth, I'd rather be playing on a cruise ship or a river boat right now than than playing in Atlantic City. Uh Atlantic City has gotten really bad. We've had had some fairly substantial winds on these cruise lines. One of the tricks that we're doing, like on these boats that dock out of uh out of uh Chicago, I think it is, or in the Chicago area, anyways. Uh they had this deal where you go out on the water for two hours and and you come back, you know, and then they take on the the next group. Well, what you can do, and what we've been doing, is we'll pay for two trips to go out twice. So you go out on your first trip and you uh you you just bet very conservatively, you know. Your job on your first trip is to find out which is the good table, okay? And which is the best seat at the best table. So at the end of the trip, when everybody gets up to to get off, you just go sit at that seat for the next trip and you go out again and now you play some serious cards. Do you know which cruise line it is? I c I can't I can't tell you, I haven't heard anything good or bad about 'em. Yeah. Most of them though are a lot better than they used to be. You know, they used to have a terrible reputation, but most of them are I haven't heard these horror stories that uh that we used to hear, you know, but one right on the other right of the yard, and it's gonna be an S one of our players did have trouble with one of those cruise ships. Uh but I haven't had any other bad reports, you know, so I'll keep you posted on 'em. I've only had one bad report and no good reports for that area. There's only two going. Yeah. I forget the names of them. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And they're gonna be side by side right by the architect.
SPEAKER_01Are they parked when you play or do they have to go out?
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_02And uh seizures and valleys are bidden on a flat where they'll put a hotel in a garage on the clock.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02But there's gonna be a bunch of them together.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I don't recommend against them any anymore. I used to, you know, back a few years ago because there was just horror stories about 'em, but not anymore. Yeah, they're crowd, oh yeah, they're crowded. I d you know, I think one of the best things that could possibly happen that's that may that may come up, and we're watching the situation, is if they legalize gambling in the cat skills, about a third of the people that play Atlantic City actually live closer to the cat skills than they do to to Atlantic City, and that'll put a big dent in Atlantic City. I I think Atlantic City's had it their own way for so long now. I think if they get caught you know, Foxwood isn't isn't enough to and it is and it's too far away to uh give them real competition and and uh Turning Stone can't give them any real competition either. Those casinos are they're just not big enough. Although Foxwood is now the largest casino in North America and also the most profitable.
SPEAKER_03Yes.
SPEAKER_01Fox it Foxwood is in the middle of nowhere in in let me think. That would be southeast Connecticut, southeast corner of Connecticut, near Mystic in that area. But boy, make sure you got a map when you go there. Yeah, I think I'm due there in the 17th. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. They play European rules.
SPEAKER_00The first two charge ten dollar admission in the line is three hours long. Yeah. They have licenses for another twenty to come in there.
SPEAKER_0120 to see these people see their sales as the new Las Vegas, these these people up by Memphis. Splash is that was the first one. That's European rules. In other words, the dealer deals his whole card after everybody's finished playing, which by the way, is if you if you've ever played it, is very, very favorable for our first base system. Because when you think about it, we're playing first base, by our rules, you don't see the card right in front of your hit decision because it's always the dealer's whole card. There you see every card. Okay, so it it hurts us at third base a little bit, but it helps us at uh at first base. They also have a nine-player table there. I'm going to just say flat out that it's impossible to win a nine-player table, and you don't have any business at a nine-player table. And uh I'm I'm hoping that when they have the they finish the new casino, so the second one already opened. And and yeah, they got a whole bunch of them going in in that chute between Memphis and New Orleans. So uh, geez, you know, between that and New Orleans, of course they're building the the casino in New Orleans now, and it and and by the way, I was wrong about who ended up with it. It wasn't Caesars, it was uh the other one, uh Harris. Harris.
SPEAKER_00Harris Home Office is off this.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. So that area is be gonna, you know, they really see theirselves as becoming the the new Las Vegas and the new Atlantic City. I see good in all of this from a player standpoint because the more competition there is between casinos, the better game they have to offer. And and I think that this is gonna cool things down in Atlantic City. Atlantic City, the casinos just had the best year of their history, the same year that Foxwood opened, you know, so Foxwood didn't hurt them at all. Uh Foxwood is doing 40 million, I understand, for people that work their dollars a month, not the 20 million that they report, but 40 million dollars in profits a month. Uh but I see good coming of this for Atlantic City. I think that very, very soon all these casino areas are going to have to compete for the crowds. Now, especially Atlantic City, because there absolutely is no other attraction in that city other than the casinos. That's it. I mean, you don't want to swim in the in the water there. You'd be liable to get come out with hypodermic needles sticking out of you. That's bad news there, you know. And you don't want to, you can't, you can't walk anywhere off the boardwalk. The boardwalk itself is dangerous enough. So when you go there, you've got to pretty much live in the casino and the in the in the weather is is it's like the worst weather in the whole world, and the air pollution, it's it's an awful place, you know. But I love it, yeah. Uh but I think that they're gonna have to start competing pretty pretty quickly for business in uh in Atlantic City, and I think that we're gonna see a lot of the old school casino managers going out the door, and I think that they're gonna be coming in with the the public interest, the the uh for the for the player type, marketing type people as as casino managers before along. We've we went through this before in Atlantic City when they got in trouble, and of course the casino's there for a while, it became very, very easy to to play, and I think that we're gonna be going through this kind of situation again in Atlantic City. I did, by the way, uh get uh approached by the Indian Council for the uh for the Turningstone Casino to sit on that council as a player representative. So I'm trying to work that deal out with them. I'd like to do that because that'd give us a lot of uh inside information. We can we can sort of sit on uh the uh the strategy talks of the enemy there. So that should be kind of fun. I can't believe they're gonna do this. Well we'll see what happens. Yeah. So you know I I think that when when you talk about table selection, that's you gotta look at it from a much loftier perspective than you can't just look at, well, which table should I play? You gotta look now which casino area should I play, what time of year should I play at what time of the month, what time of the the week, and and so on and so forth. I haven't heard any anything about good weekend conditions, by the way, anywhere. They're not they're not good on the Golf Coast on the weekends. It's too crowded. Uh probably for weekend play, Las Vegas is as bad as it might get on a weekend, is probably still the best place to go for weekend play. Atlantic City has become impossible for weekend play. It's nothing anymore to go into an Atlantic City, to go into a major casino on a Saturday and not see a single winning player anywhere in the entire in the entire casino. We've had times where we couldn't find a single winning player anywhere in a strip, and as I reported, I think maybe already in the newsletter, Keith and I had gone up the strip one way, got to the middle, hadn't seen a single winning player, and we ran into Kenny Forbes, coming with a group of people the other way, and they checked out every casino coming from the other way, and they hadn't run into a single winning player, except one guy, strangely enough, that was playing a $500 minimum game at the Baccarat pit at uh it's at Caesars. So what was going on? So we all ran over there, but by the time we got over there he was already losing. So that was that was the end of that. But that was the only game in town. Um there or don't you know? I'll I'll tell you, I've I've gotten to the point where I would rather do the seminars in the middle of the week there because the conditions are are so bad there. I don't like to play there at all. Uh and again, uh I've out I played a lot of baccarat the last time that I went. I did go out and tried to find some winning games, and I found a a couple here and there, you know. But I think that uh, you know, at some point I can't continue to play Atlantic City on the weekends because it's impossible to play there on the weekends, so I think pretty soon I'll start, even when I do the seminars, I'll go out and play Baccarat rather than blackjack and recommend that the other people that are there for the seminar do the same thing when we have them in Atlantic City on a weekend. Uh team play is is one way, we're mentioning this in in uh newsletter number nine. It is a good way to defeat these these bad conditions, these bad casino conditions. And and the way we're looking at doing it, uh you'll you'll find by the way that uh in in team play, when we did it similar to the way we did it in in the Bahamas when we were there, that you can play seven players. It doesn't hurt you to play seven players in a in a team play because the the reason for the dealer advantage in a seven-player game just isn't there the way we play team play with with sacrifice players and so on and so forth. So that means that uh you have to, and in a weekend, for instance, in Atlantic City, if you're gonna play team, you pretty much gotta do it so that you're covering all seven positions, or somebody will sit down. Now, we do little tricks like getting markers put up on certain hands and things of that nature, you know. But it you pretty much have to, for Atlantic City, you pretty much have to be looking at a seven-player deal. Not that you would have seven players, but that you would cover seven positions. So you might, for instance, have four-player with three of them playing two positions. Yeah. We're looking at at doing it that way. Partners play is is pretty darn good, uh, especially especially from from first and third. But we found even in Atlantic City conditions the way they are now, even when you can get first and third, get your and that's hard enough to do, is get yourself situated at first and third with your partner, the two of you alone will not usually be enough to uh to change the situation to make up for the other five players in the game, you know. It's rough. Yeah. Yeah. Another thing that we're looking at in in table selection uh these days or or finding good conditions, let's just look at it that way, finding good conditions, we are consistently seeing everywhere that finding better conditions in afternoon play than at nighttime play, everywhere. Uh no matter where you go these days, we're seeing a lot of that. So the old recommendations that both Jerry and I used to make about playing late at night and so forth, we're we're changing that and we're saying that. And in fact, a lot of the guys have been experimenting with morning play. That's one of the things we'll be recommending in newsletter number nine is to play new cards when you're there and you know if you're comped and whatever and you got to play, play new cards. You can do much better on new cards. And I got uh an opportunity to see something quite unique in Atlantic City just a couple of months ago. I went over to I to I went over to play new cards and I went over to Caesars at uh I think it was like at at uh eight o'clock in the morning. And at Caesars, when they change the cards, they don't do it all at once. They have a card changing crew that goes around and they'll do, they almost spot do it. Like if they're nice about one thing, if the table's empty, they change the cards there, they won't break up a game, they'll let the game keep going at Caesars. Now, Claridge, at Claridge, uh, we were at a wedding game at Claridge the other night and they just came over and shut the game down. So I don't recommend Claridge at all uh for for anything. I don't even recommend that you go in there because they're very poor sports, you won a couple hands and they shut your game down, so what the heck? What's the point of going there, you know? But I went over and I saw these two games. Both games had the same number of players. They both had four players, and it just it so happened that the two dealers, they alternate dealers, you know, just to give the dealers a break and so forth, they alternate dealers. The two dealers were dealing both of these tables. One had brand new cards, and the other had the cards left over from last night. Okay. So all other conditions are the same. It's the same dealers, it's the same number of players, everything's the same. They're sitting there right next to each other. So I went from one game to the other, to the other, to the other. I went back and forth between these games, and what I would try to do is when one of the games went down to three players, I'd go so so I could sort of keep it at four players as much as I possibly could, because I wanted to see what the difference was between the new cards and the old cards. And I'm going to tell you that the difference was night and day. If you never played a game of blackjack before in your life, you would notice the difference. At the old card game, the dealer was breaking. Well, let's let's put it this way, with the new cards, the dealer was breaking three times what she was breaking with the old cards. With the old cards, she was making five and six card hands like crazy. With the new cards, it was mostly three-card hands. With the new cards, everything happened like it should happen. When the dealer got a bad hand, she broke. When you got a good hand, you won. You go to the next game, you get a 20, and you probably stood maybe a 40% chance of winning the hand with a 20. The dealer, we figured it out for one shoe. The dealer's average hand, uh, her average point count in the game was 20 point something. She got that many 21s. It was 20 point something. So you would you would lose N20 more times than you would win N20 with the old. I'm talking bad conditions here. But there are the two games right next to each other. The only difference was old cards, new cards, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Have you had any experience with playing first basic shoe with space at all?
SPEAKER_01Still get the oh yeah. Yeah, yeah, we do that. We do that that quite a bit. In fact, that's the way that I recommend you play face-down games. Either that or go to zero proximity counting, you know. But yeah, I play I like to play face down. You you know, you don't see all the cards and you have that disadvantage, but you all we still know where what the uh what the final card was in the prior round, so you can still play the first base system, you know, at least you get all the advantage uh out of it. And by the way, if you're playing with people that you know, you know, like if you're going on a trip to uh uh up to Tahoe or someplace, you could all just turn your cards over, you know. There's nothing that says that you can't just lay your cards down so everybody can see 'em, you know. Just make it a face up game, that's all. Well, you don't know, so you just you know you gotta go by variable variable strategy, but you recommend new cards everywhere or just speaking about Well, we've that's a real good question. The question is, are we talking about these new cards everywhere or just Atlantic City? Uh you know, Vegas is a little shaky on new cards because a lot of the casinos don't wash the cards at all. The Princess Casino in uh Mississippi has exceptionally good cards for our first base system, brand new cards. I mean, we absolutely slaughter them with our first base system when they come out with their new cards. Right now we got crowds of MBJ players go there waiting for them to come out with the new cards so they can play, you know. They these dealers, these pit bosses can't figure out what's what's going on, but it's very, very good playing conditions. I'll tell you though, the turning stone is not one of the players went out and played new cards. They reported to me the other day that he won. I tried it a couple of times and I found it to be just extreme clumping. I mean, real uncanny clumping, like situations where you might see 30 tens in a row in situations like that. You know, I mean you you just you just they're just unplayable. Uh they they did report to me that they've started washing the cards. Back then they weren't washing the cards at all. Now they they've reported to me that they started washing the cards, but I haven't gotten there early enough to check this out to find out, you know, if these guys actually know what washing the cards means. And I got to see the wash to find out if it's a real wash or if it's what I call an eye wash. For instance, the one at uh Bailey's in Atlantic City is an eye wash. They take the cards and they they wash them two decks at a time. They don't even get them out of order at all. I mean, they they use a space this big on the table, you know, and they just go like this, they put them back together. It's a fake wash, in other words, you know. Uh but a lot of and and it also depends on the shuffle that they're using. Some uh like for instance at the uh at the uh the one in in in Mississippi, the princess, they don't wash at all. Okay. The cards I mean. They uh they uh they don't wash at all but the the shuffle that they happen to have their startup procedure in other words just happens to lend it lend it just you automatically go right into perfect clumping for for first base you know so it's one of those kind of a hit and the miss things but what I'm saying about Atlantic City is when you when you're there in a weekend when you and you're you're gonna play in the late afternoon or you're gonna play at night you know you're gonna play bad cards you know that I mean you've already made that conscious decision you say I'm gonna go downstairs right now and play real bad cards and lose all my money you're saying that yourself you know or you're saying well I'm gonna go and see what the new cards are like because new cards they can be good you know they can be bad they're never real real bad by the way almost never real real bad they're almost never as bad as the other cards you know the old cards and sometimes they're they're real real good for instance for instance I finally in that new card game at the one I was telling you where I was looking at the two games side by side with the new cards got a chance to play the dealer head to head and I got in a little hot water there the dealer claimed that I won every hand in the shoe it was a six deck game I it seemed to me that I had lost one hand in the in that in that shoe but he called the pit boss over and he said you know this guy just won every sing single hand in a shoe you know and uh the pit boss it was a woman she looked at me and uh she says well how'd you do this? I said I was just I was just lucky you know I mean I says I mean I you know I don't know what the cards are or anything. I mean hey deal me a four I said to the dealer and doesn't he deal me a four I couldn't but then I started laughing you know and she saw the humor in it you know but for a while there you know I thought they were gonna take me out and shoot me. Yeah yeah exactly opposite what you know yeah see when I wrote that three three and a half years ago now the casinos were going through a a full table wash you know uh and the cards were very very unreadable and very very unpredictable there was what we call box card order clumping and you know it was kind of like nasty clumping. We did mention also in the manual though that we did well playing first basears with with new cards there for a while. But we weren't recommending them and one of the reasons we weren't recommending them is because you almost always had good conditions you know later in the afternoon and and and especially in the evening just the way things were it was a nighttime game then that's when the best conditions were so playing new cards was was uh there there was no reason for it there was no reason to expose yourself to to the unknown of new cards okay but now there's a known thing going on in in those same casinos now you know the cards at night are going to be bad you know that for a fact it's a given okay so now I'm saying okay now you're better off exposing yourself to new cards and some are going to be good and some are going to be bad but at least you got some good because at night you're not gonna see anything good in Atlantic City. I mean you're not gonna see a good game there. And by the way you can't even escape it by going into the baccarat pits because the these conditions have spread right into the baccarat pits. As people try to get away from these from these horrible conditions they play higher and higher stakes they'll even go in you'll find overclumped $200 minimum games because so many people have been playing $200 minimum game all day that it's that it's overclumped you know you just can't you can't escape in there anymore like you used to be able to now maybe in the in the winter when the when the conditions get worse down there when the weather conditions get worse down there maybe that'll change things a little bit. But normally Atlantic City has turned good by this time of year and this year it just hasn't it is still absolutely awful there. Absolutely awful do you recommend uh new cards for third base as well or I I actually I've played new cards when I first started playing new cards I played at third base at the sands and in Atlantic City we had a situation there where when you played third with the shuffle and the wash that they used you always you just always won the first two shoes. Always I mean you can take it home to the bank you're gonna always win the first two shoes playing third base but it was just kind of a a situation that happened to exist with their particular new card procedure at that at that point in time okay but I really think that you're better off playing first base against new cards. I think you're gonna run into a good first base game more frequently than you are good at least that's been my experience. But it doesn't mean that you won't run into a good third base game with brand new cards you know because the the tens are usually fairly well distributed and that's what makes a good a good third base game. Why don't we take just a a five minute break for the for the smokers and and grab a glass of water and so forth multiple these multiple these different multiple action games uh and and all of these like uh almost blackjack games that they have now the I haven't seen any of them where the casino odds are better than they are in straight blackjack so I I can't really recommend them the the odds in this no peak snow peak blackjack where they deal the the whole card up however you lose on and pushes the odds are highly against you uh in that game however however since the the play players in that game in those games play virtual NBJ they play a whole lot closer to NBJ than they do to basic strategy. Now that should tell them something you know if you can see all the cards and what is the difference really you know if all of a sudden now they know how to play because they can see all the cards. I think one thing it is and I and I said this if you remember I said it in the manual I think it makes very very good practice at home to do that a couple of times play that way not not to lose on the push is part okay but to play dealing the whole card up just to give yourself an idea of how much you need to hit to really win in a clumped game. Those games those games by the way will clump up okay because people are hitting a lot when people are hitting a lot that will clump the cards up what that does is that changes the amount of pushes you're going to have increased pushes in those games and the house wins and pushes so the odds are against you much more than the normal mathematical odds. The normal mathematical odds say that when you lose on pushes you're giving up nine percent and that's probably true but when the game is clumped is you know you're gonna push a lot more so you're giving up a lot more than than 9%. However having said all of that a good game is a good game and you can get in winning situations in those see-through blackjack games you know so don't just totally ignore them if you see something going on at the table you might want to you might want to sit down and try it because you know the cards can get set up against the house just like they can uh in any in any game of blackjack one of the one of the comments during the break was please stick more to Las Vegas rather than the rest of the areas in the world we're going to have Paul Orth who's a Las Vegas player I'm not you know I play Las Vegas three or four times a year is all last Paul Orth is our one of our teachers for the Las Vegas area we're gonna introduce him at about noon and he's going to come up and give you his impressions on Las Vegas and where to play and when to play in the Las Vegas game and so forth. Now you've got to remember though that Paul is strictly a Las Vegas player so he's not like comparing he's telling talking about what he sees here rather than comparing it to other places. Tomorrow Ed Goldstein is here he and Karen went to they had a wedding that they had to go to but he'll talk about his impressions on Las Vegas tomorrow. Now let me just tell you about some of mine for this trip. I've got to scold you Las Vegas players a little bit you know I keep getting letters and phone calls from you about how difficult the the game is down here. And I just want to say that you know it almost would be a good idea if you could go through some Atlantic City boot camp for a couple days to find out you know what bad cards are really all about. Now by the way we get the same complaints from the people up in Minnesota that the cards are there. One of our Atlantic City players went to Minnesota you've seen their comments in the newsletters and so forth one of our top Atlantic City uh players happened to go up to up there for a business trip in Minnesota and was up there for a week and he played four different casinos he wanted all four of them and he wanted all hours of the day and he got back and he called me up and he says I don't know what the hell they're talking about. Those are it's ten times easier than Foxwood this guy happens to live in Connecticut he says it's ten times easier than Foxwood. A lot of times you need to compare your game to other games I'm going to tell you that card play for Atlantic City players in Las Vegas is it's it's like duck soup. Let me give you an idea I got into town and Thursday my airplane got way laid in New Jersey everything happens to me in New Jersey my airplane got way late in the fog so I missed my plane from Denver coming in so I didn't get here till till late and Fred was nice enough to wait all his time at the airport and pick me up and I finally got here and uh geez we ate lunch and we went we went straight out and played there was there was Ed Ed was playing third and I was playing first which is of course is a totally unfair thing for us to do to Las Vegas and we went to Bourbon Street which I love we went to Bourbon Street first and we went there we just went right up and down the strip we won every single table that we sat down at every single table and I looked at Ed and Ed looked at me and I said Ed I don't know what the hell these Las Vegas people are talking about. I played strictly first base. I get calls first base doesn't work in Las Vegas. I never lost at first base in Las Vegas it's almost impossible to lose at first base in Las Vegas if you go to the casinos at the right time at the right time now the first game that we did lose was at where was that Paul? Where the heck were we now flamingo? Flamingo was the first table that I lost that was in that game and uh the the first shoe was okay the second shoe I lost every single hand in the shoe I never won a hand in the shoe I got a stiff on every hand and I never made a single air in the game. I never got a hand that I could have played it any any way whatsoever and won. So I said you know and I don't think I like this game here and and Karen said you know there's the this dealer here is brave this guy's playing head to head at the very next table very next table right next to me playing head to head and she says this dealer over here is breaking like crazy so I just moved from this table to that table. The first shoe and the other game I never lost a hand in the whole shoe. It was just as different as night and and day I sat down at that game the last two cards were 10 and the first hand I put out a $75 bet and blackjacked and I said to the dealer you know I like this game a whole lot better than that game next door and and the and that game just kept kept right on going that way. Just kept right on going. We didn't suffer another loss until the seventh game we found a bad game at Caesars late in the afternoon although that's not to say anything against Caesars because we had won there earlier and then I also went over to the Baccarat Pits and won over there in spite of the fact that in the fifth hand of the game I put my I put my bet up with the system call for bank and I accidentally put it on player. Just you know wasn't thinking and uh of course I my day had started at four o'clock in the morning New York time and it's now like four o'clock in the afternoon West Coast time. So I've been I'd I'd hit a rough day and you can't smoke in them damn airplanes anymore. And and the one airplane landed in in in in Jersey when the other one was taken off I went out one gate into the next I never got a chance for a cigarette in the state of New Jersey. And then I got I got to I got to Denver and they said well you missed your plane and we're we're flying you to uh they they said three bad things they said you missed your plane we're flying you to California and no you can't smoke in this airport and and I said lady I've been flying for 11 hours here you know where can you smoke? Where's a door to this airport you know but anyway so we finally got here alive safe and sound but those are the kinds of conditions that that we see here I think the whole secret of Las Vegas is time of day. Las Vegas can get mean too it can get mean too but I think it's time of day I'm thinking more and more that playing conditions playing conditions are invariably proportional is it a word invariably proportional English teacher invariably and a dealer which it's two strikes against you very invariably proportional to crowding conditions are invariably proportional to crowding the more crowding you have the worse the conditions are going to be I don't even worry about not enough crowding to get the cards clumped anymore because so many casinos now are getting in on this let's just start out with plump cards you know let's not wash them or let's just wash them just a little bit or we'll pretend to wash them and so they're starting right out plumped. And so I don't think you have to worry too much about getting in into games that are that are under clump because of the of the time of day you might find some every now and then but I I don't say don't play in the morning anymore because the cards won't be clumped enough because they probably are Ed uh Ed Goldstein loves the mornings. I'm sure he'll tell you tomorrow when he gets up and and talks he loves to play in the morning and I found the games here ridiculously easy at like 10 and 11 o'clock in the morning and I said Ed let's hit a whole bunch of casinos because we got to find this Las Vegas that these people keep telling me about because it certainly isn't this Las Vegas there must be another Las Vegas out here in the desert someplace we went right up the the strip we walked into every every casino we did it all day we we had supper we did it at night we did it all day again yesterday I'm finding yeah nine times you can see some bad conditions then you gotta use a little table selection. Ed said by the way he says what are you using to select tables as we walked up and I said if they got chips and they got cards they're good you know it was all there was to it we just played every you know we looked for empty tables so the two of us could sit down together and usually we could play it that way for a little while and we were doing very well we were playing for some fairly heavy money for by Las Vegas standards so the chip piles are piling up pretty fast so it was hard to keep players out of the game. And I would find that when players got in the game would immediately deteriorate but it wouldn't go all the way over to too bad. It wouldn't be bad enough to to get out of the game. We got out of the games that we got out of not because we we weren't winning we were still winning we just weren't winning as fast as we were earlier when there were just the two of us so we'd say well let's just go look for another empty table. So we started at Bourbon Street and we went right up the strip there and we ended up over at Caesars and back down the other side and we just could not find a casino that we couldn't win at until about what time was it when you met us Paul? Oh it's uh 930 at night 930 at night. So we went all all day without a losing game. That was the first and then that was just a losing shoe really at at that game. Uh and then we didn't really hit a a what I would call an unplayable game until about uh geez it must have been it was last night it must have been about at least by the time we ate supper and got out of here it must have been midnight I guess it it was where we had a game that was what I would call unplayable and that was at Caesars but you were at Caesars just before that, weren't you Pa? And you found the conditions to be pretty pretty good didn't you? If I think I ever in all of these games that we went to not we didn't have the same people follow us from casino this casino in in some cases we did but all of these these games were witnessed by by people in this room so I can't lie to you about anything because you'd you'd know about it because because some of you were were there John you were there for some of them and so forth and there were who other what other players were fouling us around the day yeah there was there was a mass of you here and there's different ones at different casinos and so forth and you were over at playing with Paul last night oh I had a mass of people with them from the room playing playing in there um I you know and I really you know I'm I'm we're kind of serious about that is it would be nice for you to play against really tough really tough conditions once just to get an idea of what those conditions are because it helps you in Las Vegas it helps you in Las Vegas to have been up against tougher conditions in Las Vegas. It makes you a little more alert to to bad conditions I think to tell you the truth I think that our Las Vegas players some of you some of you do by the way very well don't don't get me wrong but there's there's some of you that don't and I think the biggest problem is you're you're playing maybe a little bit too lazy you're not moving around enough you're not getting up from these from these bad games quick enough one thing about Las Vegas unlike Atlantic City one thing you can always find a good game in Las Vegas it's always possible to find a good the only possible exception might be a heavyweight title fight weekend that could it can really get totally Atlantic city zoo conditions here. But other than that I I just haven't seen conditions here that are that are really all that bad yes what what do you recommend to the average player as far as collecting a table in Las Vegas other than Kips Carts? It's not any different in Las Vegas I'm not going to suggest anything different in Las Vegas from from the other areas. The first thing I look for is empty tables. If I walk into a pit and I see a couple of dealers can in there with nothing to do you know I'd say automatically these are good conditions. Now a lot of times you'll walk you'll circle that pit and you'll find it's the quarter games that are empty and the nickel games that are full. But even if the pit has not had enough pressure on it where the players are going to start playing the quarter games those to me are very good conditions. We by the way you the only places you ever see those conditions is in Las Vegas okay or or maybe at three o'clock in the morning in New York or or Connecticut or not even three o'clock in the morning probably more like five o'clock in the morning.
SPEAKER_02I like what in an observation I've noticed the same sort of card every table in there a certain amount of tank topic at one table an hour later we go very good observation another table and you can go in there and make exactly the same plays and the case off.
SPEAKER_01Yeah he's saying that it at Caesars there's a tremendous amount I've noticed this too and I can verify this there's a tremendous amount of consistency in the cards from table to table and and in in a lot of ways that's good because if if you're at a if you uh find yourself at a bad table in in Caesars and I do this with Caesars all the time and I never really thought about it until you mentioned it well I had a bad game at Caesars I don't leave the pet I leave the casino because all the games in that casino are the same you don't have good games and bad games they're all good or they're all bad at that particular point in time. They they tend to turn all turn from good to bad at about the same time. And it went through a bad window uh day before yesterday I would say it was about four o'clock in the afternoon just before supper time and it went through another bad window I think at roughly midnight last night uh and and but just before that obviously it was quite good because you guys played quite a few tables there. Did you find that by the way Paul that there's a lot of consistency from game to game of Caesars
